Ella Camping [ CH-EL-2D-2011 ]
Nature and Adventure Camping in Ella Adventure Park (2 Nights / 3 Days)

In the border between the highland wet zone and the lowland dry zone, just downhill from the popular tourist town of Ella are the campsite; Ella Adventure Park, just off the main road and Ankelipauwa, on the banks of a river called Kirindi Oya. Our campsite are about five (05) hour's drive from Colombo. There are many routes to Ella, the two most popular being through the hill country and the world famous tea estates or through the Udawalawe National Park and its herd of wild elephants. Campsite are mainly cater for the nature lover and those aspiring to have a quiet, calm and peaceful journey in total harmony with nature. The lodges are built amongst the trees of the thick shrub forest and have all the modern amenities and comforts, including running water, showers, etc.

  • Arrival at Ella Adventure Park – Ella by noon.
  • River bathing in the natural rock pool on the Kiridi River
  • We will offer you a fine dining experience.  Your Lunch will include typical Sri Lankan meal with the taste of local spices.
  • Nature and Adventure trail to “Warakara Fall”  - In the evening you are free to have a walk around the campsite or can do a small trek to Warakara Ella which is within a kilometer from the campsite. Optional You can do Canyoning, Water Slidering, Water Jumps and traverls or bathing in the natural rock pool
  • Once you come back to the campsite after the trek, a delicious five course dinner including a hearty BBQ meals will be waiting for you. Before your dinner, you will be welcomed to have a glass of cool beer or kicked with a local sprit. The whole area is lit up with traditional flame torches and a roaring campfire. So sit back, relax and let our experienced staff cater to your every need.
  • Overnight stay at Luxury or Standard Camps.

 

  • Depart the camp between 8 and 9 am after a hearty breakfast.
  • Head off on the winding bicycle track down to Ella from Ella Adventure Park.

Along the way there will be a chance to stop for drinks, admire the wonderful views and take photos, and even to visit to the tea plantation that the bicycle trail passes through.
Having arrived at the town of Ella (approx 4 km from Ella Adventure Park campsite guests can continue on their bikes along the road to the Rawana Ella Falls, looking down into the famous "Ella Gap" (although this part of the journey can be done in the 4WD if guests would prefer). En route we will visit the Rawana Ella Buddhist temple, which is part of a monastery and is linked to a cave that, according to local legend, was the cave in which Rawana kept Sita captive in the famous Rama-Rawana story. Arriving at the Rawana Ella Falls during the late morning, guests can either choose to admire them from the base of the falls, or for the more adventurous (and depending on whether it is the wet or dry season) one can venture up the steep route that runs alongside it.

  • Return to the camp (all up hill on the way back!) in time for lunch and time for relaxation.
  • In the afternoon at approx. 3 pm , depart on foot from the camp for a 2 - 3 hour hiking trail to “Randeniya Villlage”. The trail takes us through tea plantations, paddy fields, near village houses and vegetable plots, and dense forests.
  • Arrive back at the camp, having worked up a good appetite during the day's activities and enjoy a warm shower and tasty meal to round off the day.
  • Overnight stay at Luxury or Standard Camps.
  • After breakfast, guests will depart to their next destination.

 

Ella & Ankelipawwa

The serene environment, especially on the banks of the Kirindi Oya river, affords the visitor the setting for perfect harmony with nature.  Absolutely quiet, disturbed only by the sounds of rustling water as it dances its way down, the chirping of birds as they mate, music of crickets and the occasional howl of a fox in fear.  This is a place to relax and just recuperate from the stresses of modern day living.  The undisturbed setting permeates tranquility and really reinvigorates the visitor with the feeling that just lying idle itself is such a peaceful experience.  The soothing environment and peaceful surroundings are so blissful that slumbering in a hammock under a shady tree comforted by the gentle river breeze would be the ultimate experience.

The harmony with unspoilt nature is complemented by soothing activities we have arrange that facilitate contentment through harmonizing mind, body and soul with nature.  Actually peace, contentment and happiness for that bliss of satisfaction are within each one of us.  They are however brought forth only by stimulating the mind and body in an undisturbed surrounding of solitude.  Then, one would be able to look inwards and seek that contentment.  Any visitor is able to reach that bliss of satisfaction and contentment and achieve peace of mind and soul, and a reinvigorated body in perfect harmony with nature.

Luxuriant vegetation intersperses with abundance of wild life witha a wide variety of bird life augmented by large flocks of migratory birds flying half way across the world to nest and roost.


Our rates include

  • Including transport from the entrance of the Ella Adventure park to the campsite and back to the entrance in a non-A/C open 4WD vehicles.
  • Services of a well trained Team Leader / Naturalist.
  • Accommodation in fully serviced camps with meals, on full board basis at National parks
  • All government taxes

 

Our rates do not include

  • Transportation up to the Ella.
  • Any additional beverages or food, which would be ordered extra.
  • Any tips to the staff.
  • Any personal effects not mentioned here.
